Today was my first day of having eight hours of class (8:30-12:30 and 13:30-17:30). It was much less boring than I thought it would be! Mostly because I had coffee twice, brought snacks, and was in a class with my friend Martin, who kept me slightly more occupied than otherwise. Even though it is that time of the month (which totally sucks!), I am having fun. Just craving lots of red meat.
Anyway, yesterday, I saw a street performer and it was really fun watching and also listening to his very quick and witty French (of which I could only make out a few words, but I feel that this is normal). I also walked along a street where the houses are huge and, in earlier centuries were for rich families but now are for many, many families and are a little run-down and sad looking. Beautiful, though, but then I've always loved buildings that are old, unkempt, rusty, etc.
A lot of the things I see here in Annecy have so much more history than anything I have ever seen before, and it is so wonderful. I find that I could spend hours staring at one building.
Yesterday evening, I saw a cat on the street on my way home and I stopped to pet it. It looked French. I'm serious, if there was ever a sterotypically French cat: this guy was it. His face was very flat and his eyes were huge and his meow was totally French. I said to him "Comment tu t'appelle, gato?" while I was petting him. He meowed in French.
