San Isidro... Or Another Long Weekend

It seems holidays abound in spring in Madrid, because we have had another long weekend. Granted, my weekends are always long, but regardless. This week, Madrid and the surrounding area celebrated their patron saint's day, San Isidro, by hosting games and rides in El Parque de San Isidro...
Dressing up in traditional Madrileñian atire...
Shooting off fireworks...
and just generally taking it easy...
These are all from when Hannah and I wen to the park on Thursday and then met up with Julie, Melanie, Maurice, Estelle, and Begoña to watch the fireworks. The week of three work days was not without its own drama, however!
One of the girls in my class and one of the boys have told their friends that they love the other... at eight years old! Nothing further has happened besides these confessions, but I'll be curious to see if any hands are held on Monday!
Well, anyway, on Saturday, Joaquín drove Hannah, Julie, and I up to a little mountain town called Cuenca. It's famous for "casas colgadas" or cliff houses, and it has some spetacular views.
Stunning!
These flowers have been one of my favorite springtime events here in Spain... they are so beautiful.
I really don't know if I could live there! Yikes!
The water of the river was just gorgeous, but I have no idea what would have turned it that color...
I'm not saying they're as cute a couple as us, but Hannah and Julie were sure adorable that day (disclaimer, they are not actually a couple... yet).
